GCF works in Southern Haiti, in the district of Les Cayes, a very populous and underserved rural area with some of the country's worst health indicators. GCF serves a catchment area of approximately 600,000 people through yearly health missions from the United States. It uses the local health system and collaborates with two local hospitals to provide supplemental surgical and preventive care to an average of 3,000 patients a year. From 1999 through 2010, the medical missions tendered to nearly 20,000 rural families. In addition, GCF has recently found it increasingly necessary to contribute to relief efforts in Haiti and did so for both earthquake rapid response period as well as the current Cholera Outbreak that is dangerously spreading across the country.
